Your standard American-ized Chinese food served in an overly bright (flourescent light), cafateria-like dining room. The food is very consistent (my fav is the lo-mein), the portions are good and it always arrives very fast and hot. The all day combos are an excellent deal. The Vietnamese menu is a nice alternative. Carryout and delivery is a good, quick option if you don't like the vibe.

I just moved here, a friend recommended I check this place out. Worst chinese food I have ever had. I can honestly say that this food is MUCH worse than the chinese food you'd get at Panda Express or other "mall court" places.

I ordered 2 dishes, General Tso's (which I rarely order) and Kung Pao Chicken.

On my third bite of the General Tso's, I bit into a piece of bone. The chicken was all dark meat...greasy, slimy...it could have been Duck for all I knew.

The Kung Pao Chicken was worse. Once again, all dark meat, gristly, stringy, chewy, fatty. It was basically a bunch of chicken chopped up into tiny bits with other similarly-sized bits of carrot and celery. It looks like it was scooped up with an ice-cream scooper. It was incredibly greasy. I don't think it was cooked all the way either.

Imagine chinese food served in a school cafeteria...that's about what you're getting here.

Yeah, it's cheap...but it's also inedible, so I can't say it's a good value. You're better off ordering chinese food at Applebees.

Could not disagree more with the people who do not like Jade Garden. Have lived in Lawrence for three years now after living in sixth other major cities across America. Jade Garden is the only place in Lawrence (besides the newly opened sushi and hibachi grill on 23rd) that I would even consider, after trying most other places in town.

The food is quite tasty and they have a huge menu to choose from. The service is incredible (they will make many substitutions and change the dish to suit your dietary needs), they are fast and friendly. They give you quite large portions for a low price.

Jade Garden is highly recommended from me and many friends. It's the ONLY good Chinese food in Lawrence.

Probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had...I know that this restaurant is a staple among KU students.

Jade uses what can only be described as Chicken toes and Beef tails for most of their meat. Avoid, avoid, avoid....T.Yaki is a much better joint for Chinese delivery.

YES, it is true! You do get a lot of food for the money...but most of what you get is junk and only edible during a night of over drinking.

You can substitute tofu for almost any meat, and the 'All Day Combination' prices are great. If you're like me and don't see a big difference between beef tails and beef butt, belly or shoulder, this is a really cheap, convenient vegetarian option, and the delivery is always fast.

Short of food poisoning, I can't think of a worse dining experience. This is not only the worst Chinese food I've had in Lawrence, it's the second worst Chinese food I've ever had (The worst was in Ashland, Oregon, where they put White Gravy on everything).
But the food here is greasy and disgusting. Meat entrees are short on meat (if you are a meat eater), and the vegetables in the vege dishes were not fresh. Everything is poorly prepared, they use way too much salt, and really have no clue what Chinese Food is actually even like. EVEN THEIR WHITE RICE SUCKS.

They don't charge much for their food, so this is probably why they are popular with the student crowd, but even if this food was free, you'd still be getting ripped off. I vote three Garbage Cans and an air-sickness bag for this place.

This is cafeteria Chinese food. Lame. Flavorless to vaguely backwash tasting. I've had better entrees at Hometown Buffet.

The delivery guy seemed friendly enough and it was fairly cheap.

I won't eat there again.

I pray Lawrence has better Chinese food to offer.

this was my first mid-west chinese dining experience. Probably my last if this is considered #1 in lawrence. Maybe i'm spoiled coming from california..but this was standard chinese fast food trash. Maybe tasty if blazed..but i dunno otherwise.

Jade Garden is the best Chinese food in town. They sever dishes by order fast and fresh, no stale buffet food. Yes it is a staple of KU students but also of the Asian community in Lawrence, as well as the working crowd at lunch. There vast menu of Chinese, Tai, Korean, and Japanese food offers anything you can imagine for lunch or dinner. The food comes out fast and fresh and in really good portions. They have remodeled the inside and changed their flatware to make it nicer, as well as adding even more items to the menu. Everyone I know has been a big fan of Jade Garden and with the improvements they are making it is only getting better. Fast Friendly and Affordable.

The meat in the mongolian grill area smelled spoiled. The vegetables were not chilled. The other things were greasy and what chinese food was there, you were scraping the bottom of the container to get a few pieces. The place was recommended but I think this is the worst place I have ever ate chinese food. It was dirty and things looked spoiled. Come on luke warm uncooked beef and chicken on a buffet. Where is KDHE? You usually cannot ruin white rice but the rice was dried out and crunchy. My boyfriend came home and had indigestion all evening. The mongolian barbecue in Topeka is cleaner and 100% better. I can say though our waitress was great, very attentive and appologizing for the poor food that was out at the buffet. Stay away from this place unless you want to get sick on the poorly refridgerated food.
