30 Days of Night

Rating: R

Stars (out of 4): * 1/2

Length: 1 hour, 53 minutes

Synopsis: Vampires in Alaska where it doesn’t get light for 30 days—how could this go wrong? Unfortunately, the same conflict over and over is not frightening. Once it collapses under the weight of its own preposterousness and lack of suspense, it doesn’t matter how many cool-looking vampires screech like feral beasts—the novel idea of the movie has already lost all its blood.

Traitor

Writer-director Jeffrey Nachmanoff takes this tale of terrorism and espionage—based on idea from Steve Martin —and runs with it all over the world, from Yemen to Chicago to London and Marseilles. And yet by the end, with its much-ballyhooed twist, the whole endeavor leaves you feeling more drained than enlightened. Showtimes, review and more. Watch trailer.
