China painters to hold show
Lenexa ï¿½ The World Organization of China Painters is holding its Heartland Bouquets of China show Aug. 10-12 at the Lenexa Community Center, 93rd and Pflumm.
The show will feature more than 100 pieces of hand-painted china, exhibition booths and demonstration workshops.

Crown Center sends in the clowns
Kansas City, Mo. ï¿½ Clown Day will be held Saturday at Crown Center, 2450 Grand Blvd.
About two dozen clowns will entertain in the shops from 11 a.m. to noon, and Clown of America International Alley 92 will present a show from noon to 1 p.m.
Clowns will be at Kaleidoscope from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for free art workshops. No reservations are required. For more details, call (816) 274-8444.
Author to hold two book signings
John Karlin, a Wellington resident and author of "21st Century America: A No Holds Barred View," will be making two appearances.
Karlin will sign copies of his book at 2 p.m. Saturday at Borders, 700 N.H., and at 1 p.m. Sunday at Borders, 12055 Metcalf, Overland Park.
Concert to feature contemporary folk
Baldwin ï¿½ "HomeGrown Summer Concert" will feature a trio of contemporary folk artists at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Light Center, 1542 Woodson Road, Baldwin.
Performers are Lynate Pettengill, Russ Kapp and Clark Jamison. A potluck supper will be at 6 p.m.
