Howe to tell stories at arts center
Lawrence storyteller Priscilla Howe will give two storytelling concerts Saturday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 200 W. Ninth.
In "Cool Stories for Cool Kids," at 2 p.m., Howe will tell her favorite silly stories for all ages with the help of her hand puppet, Trixie.
At 7 p.m., Howe will tell "Tristan and Iseult," a tale full of good luck, bad choices, giants, dragons and romance. This story is for adults and children 10 and older.

Kmart to offer racing event
The Kmart Kids Race Against Drugs, a family racing event, will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Kmart, 3106 Iowa.
A specially designed race track will be set up in the Kmart parking lot and children ages 7 to 12 can take a drive in miniature race cars while being clocked by an electronic timing device. Racing participants must wear safety belts and race with an adult safety rider.
The event is free. Each child gets a free T-shirt, baseball cap and information about the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse. There is no pre-registration; an adult must accompany each racer.
