Drivers were having a smashing good time during Friday night's demolition derby at the Douglas County Free Fair. In the first heat of the evening, Mike Leming's vehicle is upended by a competitor's car. Leming walked away unhurt but was out of the heat. More than 70 vehicles competed in five heats, culminating in the championship round. Ten competitors qualified for the championship heat. The name of the winning driver was unavailable late Friday. Other action included a consolation round for drivers who didn't advance out of their heat and a compact car heat. About 4,000 people attended the derby, event organizers said.
