World's Fair paintings on display
Wamego ï¿½ Two rare mural paintings from the 1893 Columbian Exposition and World's Fair in Chicago will be exhibited at the Columbian Theatre, Museum and Art Center.
The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, starting Saturday.
The paintings were shipped to Wamego in 1894 and remained in a shipping crate until the early 1990s. They have been in a climate-controlled vault for the last 10 years.

Sunflowers take root in Chanute
Chanute ï¿½ Inspired by Chicago's recent cow display, Chanute's downtown storefronts will display sunflowers through early October.
Sunflowers-on-Parade will feature 62 6-foot-tall sunflowers decorated in a variety of ways. In mid-October, the sunflowers will be auctioned, and the proceeds will help pay for Chanute's downtown revitalization project.

Show pays tribute to Red Skelton
Liberty, Mo. ï¿½ "Red Skelton: A Performance Tribute by Tom Mullica" will be presented at 3 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Liberty Performing Arts Theatre, 1600 S. Withers Road.
Mullica, a Las Vegas entertainer and a close friend of the late Red Skelton, will portray the comedian and his characters, including Klem Kadiddlehopper, Gertrude and Heathcliff and Freddy the Freeloader.

Car swap meet set in KC
Kansas City, Kan. ï¿½ Kansas City's Ararat Shrine will hold its Car Swap Meet from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Woodlands Racetrack, 9100 Leavenworth Road.
The Ararat Shrine Car Swap Meet features an auto-corral with automobiles and trucks of all makes and models, including classic and antique cars and trucks, and booths with auto parts, accessories, memorabilia and collectibles.
