Fabrics collected on a tour of the textile-producing villages in northeastern India will be displayed and discussed during the next "Know Your Antiques" session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Watkins Community Museum of History, 1047 Mass.
Eileen "Bebe" Murphy, who has a master's of fine arts degree with an emphasis in textiles from Kansas University, will share her teaching collection.
Murphy's textiles will include wool, cotton and silk fabrics woven for clothing, tie-dyes in wool and cotton, embroidered cottons and cottons decorated with small mirrors.
Her presentation will include a discussion of the history of East Indian textiles and illustrative slides. Reference books will be on hand for help with identification of Indian textiles brought by attendees.
The session is free and open to the public; however, a donation to the museum is suggested.
