A royal wedding

There is one less eligible prince charming on the market: Crown Prince Haakon has become engaged to his live-in girlfriend, a single mother who could become Norway's next queen.

The wedding set for Aug. 25 will be Norway's first royal wedding since the prince's parents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja, married in 1968.

The popular 27-year-old prince revealed in May that he had a steady girlfriend, Mette-Marit Tjessem Hoiby, 27, who has a 3-year-old son. Legal experts say Hoiby's young son could never be king, even if the couple married and Haakon adopted him.

She's 'Blue' and in court

The legal wrangling between country crooner LeAnn Rimes and her father is tied up in another lawsuit.

Wilbur Rimes has countersued LeAnn Rimes Entertainment Inc., alleging the company owes him money. In May, the singer filed suit accusing her father and former co-manager Lyle Walker of siphoning more than $7 million from her and her entertainment company over five years.

Wilbur Rimes has denied the accusations. In his suit, he claims the company owes him a 3 percent producer fee under an agreement made with his ex-wife Belinda Rimes in 1999.

LeAnn Rimes topped the country charts with popular songs such as "Blue" and "How Do I Live."

People's Choice nominees set

Mel Gibson, Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks lead the nominees for the People's Choice Awards.

The three actors and their movies, "The Patriot," "Remember the Titans" and "The Green Mile," dominated the motion picture categories.

New TV shows starring Bette Midler and Geena Davis also fared well, as did Kelsey Grammer's venerable "Frasier."

Nominees were announced Thursday. The 27th Annual People's Choice Awards will be presented Jan. 7 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
