Crystal bows out of Oscars

— Billy Crystal said he won't be serving as host of the Oscars this March because he's too busy. Crystal, who has played host seven times for the show and is known for his send-ups of the Best Picture nominees, is working on the comedy "America's Sweethearts," opposite Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones, according to The Associated Press.

"I can't do it, you just have to understand," he told Fox News Tuesday. "If everything goes according to plan, I'll just be finishing a new movie on March 22. I can't host the show five days later."

The announcement should put the Academy Awards in a quandary since Whoopi Goldberg, another frequent host of the awards show, has said that she won't host the show again.

Although he can't host the 73rd annual Academy Awards ceremony on March 25, Crystal did have suggestions on other hosts.

"They need someone associated with the movies," Crystal said. "It should be Jim Carrey."If Carrey isn't available Jay Leno or David Letterman could be emcees, Crystal said.
