Dame Guillian Weir, one of the world's most famous concert organists, will visit Kansas University this week.
She will hold a master class for KU organ students from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, both in the Bales Organ Recital Hall. The program for the concert has not been released.
Weir's repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to contemporary works. She has performed the complete works of Bach, Olivier Messiaen and others.
Weir has received numerous awards, including being made a Dame Commander of the British Empire, the first organist to receive the honor.
Tickets for the concert are $12.50, and seating is limited. Tickets are available at the Murphy Hall Box Office, 864-3982; Lied Center Box Office, 864-ARTS; and Student Union Activities Box Office, 864-3477.
