Concert to feature Broadway tunes
The Kaw Valley Community Chorus, under the direction of Gary Weidenaar, will present "100 Years of Broadway" at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 10th and Vermont streets.
Seating is limited, and advance tickets are suggested. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the church's office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Piano students to perform tonight
The Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers Assn. will present two student recitals tonight at the Lawrence Arts Center, 200 W. Ninth.
The following students will perform at 7:15 p.m.: Amy Stahl, Dan Stahl, Jeff Miller, Anne Kettle, Nicole Humphrey, Bryant Humphrey, Katie Gill, Amy Brown, Dan Simons, Brian Simons, Hsin-yi Pan, Christy Wheeler, Sammy Wheeler, Melanie Claggett, Stephanie Jian and Jordan Crice. The students are from the piano studios of Patricia Burgstahler, Sue Evans, Carol Cook and Janet Johnson.
The following students will perform at 8:15 p.m.: Brooke Fox, Dylan Brooks, Jenny Brooks, Adam Davis, Sarah Zimmerman, D.J. Fritzel, Kelly Gibson, Kyle Gibson, Alden Slate, Jennifer Heppert, Joanne Heppert, Jason Chang, Julia Barnard, Joe Carr and Ying Nui. They are from the piano studios of Elaine de San Miguel, Jean Drumm, Sue Evans and Alice Downs.
Kaufman to pick at St. Margaret's
Winfield ï¿½ Steve Kaufman, the only three-time winner of the National Flatpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 964 U.S. Highway 40.
Opening the West Side Folk series is Lawrence mandolin player Scott Tichenor.
Kaufman, an acoustic guitarist, incorporates bluegrass, jazz, folk and Irish music into his concerts.

Quilter to hold workshop at Maple Leaf Festival
Baldwin ï¿½ The Maple Leaf Festival Quilt Show is looking for quilts to display at the 28th annual show, held in conjunction with Baldwin City's Maple Leaf Festival, Friday through Sunday. There is no entry fee to show quilts.
In conjunction with the show, Mary Sue Suit, noted quilter and instructor, will present a workshop based on her book, "A New Twist on Triangles," from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. The cost is $25 per person. Advance reservations and book purchase required.

Chili comes to Old Town
Lenexa ï¿½ The 14th annual Big Lenexa Chili Challenge will be held Saturday in Old Town Lenexa at Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road.
About 65 teams will compete, beginning at 9 a.m.
The event also will feature a salsa contest, arts and crafts fair, jalapeno pepper eating contest and games for families.

Wine festival in the Little Apple
Manhattan ï¿½ The Second Annual Flint Hills Festival of Wines will be held Sunday at the Houston Street Ballroom. This public wine and food extravaganza offers consumers a rare opportunity to sample 150 wines from some of the world's leading vineyards while benefiting the Homecare and Hospice Foundation. The Homecare and Hospice Foundation provides health and support services to terminally ill and chronically ill individuals.
