'Survivor' cleans her record
Kelly Wiglesworth, runner-up on CBS' hit summer show "Survivor," agreed to a plea bargain that removed a 1995 credit card fraud charge hanging over her newfound celebrity. Wiglesworth pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor of conspiring to commit credit card fraud. She will pay $455 in restitution and perform 75 hours of community service. The charge can be expunged from her record if she stays out of trouble for a year.
Wiglesworth, 23, said she will perform her community service by volunteering for a recreation program in Las Vegas for people with physical and mental disabilities. Her lawyer told a judge that Wiglesworth didn't know the credit card was stolen when it was used at a restaurant by her then-boyfriend. Wiglesworth was 18 at the time.
Camryn keeping mum
"The Practice's" Camryn Manheim who is three months away from delivering her first child, a boy has no immediate plans to reveal the father's identity. As it is, the Emmy winner is perplexed that anyone really cares.
"People are very fascinated about who the dad is," Manheim told TV Guide Online. "But it's really not up to me to make the decision to talk about that. I've got nothing to be ashamed of. But until I get the blessing of my son that I can talk about him and about what's going on, I'm keeping it confidential. It's not about just me anymore."
Manheim, whose pregnancy was incorporated into her "Practice" character's storyline, also can't share her son's name because, well, she hasn't settled on one yet.
Leo's hair tops in Kabul
The hairdo that Leonardo DiCaprio sported in the blockbuster film "Titanic" is all the rage in the Afghan capital of Kabul, but the ruling Taliban says the hairstyle's got to go, reports People.
Throngs of men in the city are lining up for haircuts resembling the style worn by Leo in the film complete with an untrimmed fringe and a short-cropped back. But the Taliban, who are trying to cleanse their Islamic state of just about any Western influence, are vehemently opposed to the trend. The religious police, who enforce an interpretation of Islam that includes a ban on shaving, have detained dozens of barbers in Kabul for cutting people's hair in the forbidden "Titanic" style.
Priceline, the next generation
The name-your-own-price Internet company, which ran a series of quirky commercials featuring William Shatner of "Star Trek" fame, is charting a new course for its advertising. The company hired Sarah Jessica Parker, star of HBO's "Sex and the City," as its new pitchwoman. Parker's voice is featured in new animated TV commercials Priceline began running on Jan. 1.
In the new ads, a well-dressed woman is shown breezing through a shopping spree, dinner at a fancy restaurant and finally, as a guest on a late-night talk show.
Parker does the voice-over, asking: "Wouldn't it be amazing to fly to L.A. and sort of live like a movie star for a few days?"
