Los Angeles Viewers will see some major changes on ABC next fall schedule, as the network will cut back on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and bring at least five new shows, including Jason Alexander's latest comedy.
Gone will be "Gideon's Crossing," "Two Guys and A Girl," "Norm," and "The Geena Davis Show," but picked up for another year are "Once & Again" and all three of its midseason comedies, "What About Joan," "The Job" and "My Wife and Kids."
The new shows will include the Kim Delaney drama "Philly," along with "Thieves" and "Alias," the Alexander comedy "Bob Patterson" and a Jim Belushi show, "The Dad."
ABC is playing some musical chairs with its shows, with "NYPD Blue" set to return in November instead of January, as it has the last two years. "NYPD" vet Delaney will occupy her former show's slot with "Philly," while "Blue" takes 9 p.m. Wednesdays from "20/20" beginning in November.
At the same time, Friday's "20/20" edition will not air until "Once and Again" completes its limited run in December on the night.
The network's hit game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" will be trimmed to just two nights, including Monday night before "Monday Night Football." Other shows to get a midseason order include the reality show "The Runner" and the Sally Field legal drama "The Court."
