Ottawa to show off historic homes
Ottawa ï¿½ The annual Christmas Homes Tour is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2. Five historic homes decorated for the holiday season will open their doors to the community, and Ransom Memorial Hospital will have an open house.
Residences on the tour are the Felix home, 2719 Greenwood Drive; the Tank home, 2711 Maple Terrace; the Meara home, 328 E. 11th; the Neal home, 320 E. 11th; and the Lamb-Baumann home, 623 Hemlock.
Tickets are $7 in advance or $8 at the door. To order tickets, call (785) 229-8231. Proceeds will benefit the hospital's auxiliary scholarship fund.
'Nutcracker' to be danced by Topeka ballet
Topeka ï¿½ The Metropolitan Ballet of Topeka will present "The Nutcracker" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Topeka Performing Arts Center, 214 S.E. Eighth.
The performances will feature a live orchestra conducted by Leon Burke and six guest dancers. More than 75 ballet students of June Landrith will perform in solo roles and the corps de ballet.
Tickets are $15 and $12 for adults and $12 and $10 for children. They are available at the TPAC Box Office, (785) 297-9000.
