2001 People's Choice nominees announced

— Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington lead the nominees for this year's People's Choice Awards.

The actors were nominated in the favorite film actor and favorite dramatic actor categories, but no particular performances were specified.

A nationwide poll conducted by the Gallup Organization determines the nominees and winners. No suggestions of entries or nominees are given.

Kevin James, star of the sitcom "The King of Queens," will host the live CBS telecast of the 28th annual People's Choice Awards, scheduled for Jan. 13.

Female television performer: Jennifer Aniston, Calista Flockhart, Oprah Winfrey.

Male performer in a new television series: Jason Alexander, "Bob Patterson"; Scott Bakula, "Enterprise"; Damon Wayans, "My Wife and Kids."

Female performer in a new television series: Ellen DeGeneres, "The Ellen Show"; Kim Delany, "Philly"; Jill Hennessy, "Crossing Jordan"; Reba McEntire, "Reba."
