Pink blooms this month in breast cancer goods

October, known for rich browns and rusts, is also the pinkest month of the year. Pink is the signature color of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and several clothing and cosmetics companies are thinking pink:

Saks Fifth Avenue plans its Fashion Targets Breast Cancer shopping weekend for Thursday through Oct. 21. Danskin is underwriting the "Target" T-shirt, enabling 100 percent of the $25 retail price to be donated. Members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America also designed one-of-a-kind T-shirts that will be showcased in Saks' windows and then auctioned on the company's Web site.

Sears, which donated $1 million to be shared by three breast cancer charities, also teamed with Lifetime Television for the benefit concert "Women Rock! Girls & Guitars." Nike, Dearforms, Norton McNaughton, Sag Harbor, Reebok, White Diamonds, Hanes Her Way, Playtex and The Healing Garden by COTY are supporting the initiative.
