Daughter defends dad
Rep. Gary Condit's daughter is upset that the story of missing intern Chandra Levy has become a story about her father.
"What hurts the most is when they call him a murderer. I mean, he doesn't even kill spiders," Cadee Condit told Mademoiselle magazine for its November issue.
Gary Condit has admitted he had a close relationship with the 24-year-old intern, a constituent in his California district. She's been missing since April 30.
Elaine becomes Eleanor
Former "Seinfeld" cast member Julia Louis-Dreyfus is working on a sitcom of her own.
NBC has announced that Louis-Dreyfus, who played Jerry Seinfeld's pal Elaine, will star in a midseason comedy tentatively titled "22 Minutes With Eleanor Riggs." In the series, she plays a Los Angeles club singer.
Attempts by "Seinfeld" co-stars to create their own TV magic have fallen short. "The Michael Richards Show" was canceled quickly last season, and Jason Alexander's new "Bob Patterson" on ABC hasn't fared well.
Kennedy waxes poetic
Caroline Kennedy read from a newly released collection of her mother's favorite poems at Boston Public Library and spoke about the importance of poetry, reading and family.
Among the poems: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Paul Revere's Ride" and Langston Hughes' "Let America Be America Again."
The selections were from "The Best-Loved Poems of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis."
