Touring show to be presented to students
"Lily's Purple Plastic Purse" will be performed for Lawrence public school children at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Lied Center. The hour-long show is recommended for children in prekindergarten to second grade.
The show is based on Lilly, the spunky mouse from Kevin Henkes' popular children's book series, and shows how she makes the most of a bad day.
The production is part of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Imagination Celebration on Tour project. The tour will go to 46 U.S. cities over a seven-month period.
KU singers to perform at First Presbyterian
The KU University Singers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway.
Kansas University doctoral student Chris Gilliam will conduct the 60-voice group in a program that includes pastoral, religious and madrigal themes. Selections includes "La nuit froide et somber" by Orlando di Lasso; "Jesu, meine Freude" by Dietriech Buxtehude; "All This Night" by Rene Clausen; and "Owls" by Vijay Singh.
The recital is free and open to the public.
