Troupe presents folk dances from Canada
Overland Park ï¿½ The Canadian troupe Vinok Worldance will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.
The troupe performs a range of dances from 40 cultures, from the passionate flamenco to sacred religious dances.

Symphony Orchestra offers pops concert
The Kansas University Symphony Orchestra will open its season with "An International Classical Pops Concert" at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Lied Center. The orchestra is directed by Brian Priestman.
The program includes "Crown Imperial," a 1936 march by William Walton for the coronation of King George VI; "The Little Train of the Caipiras" by Heitor Villa-Lobos, which features Brazilian percussion instruments; "Poem" by Ernest Chausson, which features solo violin; "Marche Slave" by Peter Tchaikowsky; "Concerto No. 1 in F Minor for Clarinet and Orchestra" by Carl Maria von Weber; "Overture: Il Signor Bruschino" by Gioacchino Rossini; "Concerto for Bass Trombone and Orchestra" by John Williams; and "Porgy and Bess" by George Gershwin.
