Painter is exhibiting works at coffeeshop

Oil paintings by Dorothy D. Rosenthal are hanging through August at Aimee's Coffee Shop, 1025 Mass. St.

Rosenthal, 98, moved to Lawrence from New York City in September 2000. She exhibited in the Art in Storefront Windows during the Harvest of Arts celebrations in 1998 and 2000. In March 2001, her paintings were shown at the Lawrence Public Library.

In New York City, she was a regular exhibitor and member of the prestigious Pen and Brush Club for 15 years.

'Patsy Cline' auditions set for this week at LCT

Lawrence Community Theatre, 1501 N.H., is having auditions for the musical "Always � Patsy Cline" at 7 p.m. Monday-Tuesday at the theater.

The musical pairs the legendary country singer with her greatest fan, Louise Seger, and the Bodacious Bobcats Band for a musical journey through such favorites as "I Fall to Pieces," "Crazy," "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "Bill Bailey."

The role of Louise is available. The character acts as the play's narrator and interacts with the audience as well as characters on-stage. The role of Patsy has been cast.

The show is under the direction of Mary Doveton, with musical direction by Judy Heller. Performances are scheduled Sept. 20-Oct. 6.

Lawrence artist picked for show in Italy

Works by Lawrence artist Joe Ray Kelley have been selected to be displayed at the Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy. The exhibit is Dec. 4 through 14.

Kelley is in the Signature Artist Guild registrar for the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society.
