New parking garage open KC Museum

Kansas City, Mo. The parking garage at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is open.

The new facility with 453 parking spaces more than doubles the number of slots provided by the old twin blacktop lots it replaces. It also offers enhanced visitor security, including a parking attendant and five emergency call boxes.

Parking fee is $3 per vehicle with validation at the museum's admissions desk, bookstore or Rozelle Court. Parking tickets without validation are subject to hourly rates at the garage exit.

The garage's opening marks the completion of the first public amenity in the museum's $133.5 million expansion project. An elegant plaza with reflecting pool atop the garage will be unveiled Oct. 12-13, completing the first phrase of the Nelson-Atkins expansion.
