Fans pack local theater to see latest 'Lord of the Rings' film

Hundreds of people stayed up late Tuesday night -- to say they got the first look at the newest lord of the rings movie in Lawrence.

Some of the sold-out crowd at the Southwind 12 theaters showed up by 8 p.m. Tuesday for the 12:01 showing.

Some even say they remember reading the books as young children and have waited years for the making of this movie.

Tonight's 7 p.m. showing at the Southwind 12, 3433 Iowa, is also sold out.
