Kansas City, Mo. — Music Theatre for Young People of Kansas City will stage George and Ira Gershwin's "My One and Only" Jan. 3-5.
The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at Avila's Goppert Theatre, 119th and Wornall.
The musical, set in 1920s New York, follows young pilot Capt. Billy Buck Chandler, who wants to be the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. His dreams take a different turn when he falls in love with cross-Channel swimming star Edythe Herbert.
