Lawrence Parks and Recreation department's Prairie Park Nature Center at 2730 SW Harper in southeast Lawrence encompasses 72 acres of woods, prairie and wetlands. The education building was built in 1999 and is the center of activity for the center's nature programs for the public, schools and local groups.
The walking trails lead to and around the center's five-acre fishing spot, Mary's Lake.

The center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, and is closed Mondays. Entrance is free to the public.
