Williams and KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway were among those who spoke at a surprise party Saturday for Billings at the KU Alumni Association. The event was to honor his longtime commitment to to the university and to its current fund-raising campaign, KU First. Billings came to Kansas University in 1955 to play basketball for coach Phog Allen and with Wilt Chamberlain. Billings went on to found the Alvamar golf courses and other developments.
