String quartet pairs with pianist for concert

— The Rossetti String Quartet and pianist Katia Skanavi will perform "The French Connection, Part II" at 8 p.m. Saturday in Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.

The program will include Aleksandr Borodin's "Quartet No. 2" and Dmitri Shostakovich's "Quartet No. 6" and "Piano Quintet."

Members of the Rosetti String Quartet are Nina Bodnar, violin; Henry Gronnier, violin; Thomas Diener, viola; and Eric Gaenslen, cello. Skanavi, a young piano virtuoso from Moscow, won the Maria Callas Competition in 1994 in Greece and placed fifth in the 1997 Van Cliburn Piano Competition.
