Music, games highlights of St. John Fiesta
The 21st Annual St. John Fiesta will be from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Ky.
Friday's activities include the St. John's Fiesta Dancers, 7 p.m., and La Manana Band of Topeka, 8 p.m.-11 p.m. No games or authentic Mexican food will be offered. Refreshments include hot dogs, nachos and popcorn.
Saturday's events include authentic Mexican food sale, 6 p.m.-10 p.m.; Mariachi Habanero, 6 p.m.; games, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.; St. John's Fiesta Dancers, 7 p.m.; and Ilucion Nortena of Emporia, 8 p.m.-11 p.m.
Admission is free.
Sister trio to sing at Gospel Night
Wellsville ï¿½ The McCunes, a Southern gospel group, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday as part of Gospel Music Friday Nights at Fifth and Main.
The group is made up of three sisters: Teresa McCune Perkins, piano, Toni McCune Clark, bass guitar, and Micki McCune, tenor saxophone. They have released two singles, "God Will Take Care of His Own" and "In God's Hands."
The opening act will be Heaven's Heart. The event is free.
Ag center celebrates with hot dogs, ice cream
Bonner Springs ï¿½ Hot Dog and Ice Cream Days will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 23 at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, 630 Hall of Fame Drive. Attendees will receive a free hot dog and ice cream.
A hot dog eating contest will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. The winner will receive $50. Contestants must register by noon.
Other events throughout the weekend are living history demonstrations, diary movies, hay rides, miniature train rides and more.
Admission is $6.50 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, $3 for children 5-12 and free to children younger than 5.
Color therapist to talk about living simply
Kansas City, Mo. ï¿½ Jacob Liberman, a light and color therapist, will present the lecture "Mastering the Art of Living" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Unity Temple of the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St.
He will talk about spirituality that's grounded in spontaneity. His latest book is "Wisdom from an Empty Mind."
He also will conduct a workshop, "From Light to Enlightenment," from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Gathering celebrates the arts in KC
Kansas City, Mo. ï¿½ The 39th Street MoJo, a cultural arts celebration, will be from 6:30 p.m. Friday through 10 p.m. Saturday at Propero's Books, 1800 W. 39th St.
The event features poetry by Will Leathem, Phil Miller and Jason Ryberg; music by Chad Rex, The Disappointments, Krystle Warren and Forrest Whitlow; visual art by Jon Bidwell and Jeanette Heinrich; and drama by Gorilla Theatre.
Art classes offered for young children
Reservations are being taken for Playgroup in the Park, a series of educational art activities for children ages 1-6 being offered by Young Artist's Ink.
Sessions for children ages 1-3 will be from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., for children ages 3-6 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and for children ages 1-6 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The sessions begin Thursday and are in Buford M. Watson Jr. Park, Seventh and Kentucky streets.
