Art students join for show at new gallery
The Kansas University and the Kansas City Art Institute Juried Student Exhibition opens Sunday at The Museum Gallery in the I-70 Business Center, 1025 N. Third St., suite 114. An opening reception will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The exhibit includes works by 10 to 15 artists from each school. Five finalists will have their work published in the May-June edition of Review, a Kansas City-based art publication.
The exhibition runs through March 16 and is open from noon to 6 p.m. daily.

Ancient music ensemble slated at JCCC
Overland Park ï¿½ The Academy of Ancient Music, conducted by Christopher Hogwood, will play an all-Mozart program featuring fortepiano soloist Robert Levin at 8 p.m. today in Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.
Hogwood will give a preconcert talk at 7 p.m.
The program includes "Symphony No. 35 in D-Major," "Piano Concerto No. 21 in C-Major, K 467," "Concert Rondo in D-Major, K 382" and Levin's improvisations in the style of Mozart on themes provided by the audience.

Guest conductor to lead classical music concert
The Collegium Musicum and Chamber Choir, directed by guest conductor Maurice Casey, will perform at 7:30 p.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H.
The Collegium Musicum will perform "Non Vos Relinquam" by William Byrd; "Sweet Suffolk Owl" by Thomas Vautor; and "Choral Song Suite," featuring works by Benjamin Britten and Paul Hindesmith. The Chamber Choir will present "Un Soir de Neige" by Francis Poulenc; "Fern Hill" by John Corigliano, which will feature mezzo-soprano Andrea Coleman and pianist Melanie Hadley; and "Witness" by Jack Halloran.
Casey began his career in choral music at Kansas University, where he received his undergraduate degree in music education. Since 1967, he has been director of music at the Worthington United Methodist Church in Worthington, Ohio. He is professor emeritus at Ohio State University.
Montana Rep to stage 'Death of a Salesman'
Overland Park ï¿½ "Death of a Salesman" will be presented by the Montana Repertory Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College, 12345 College Blvd.
The tragic play, by Arthur Miller, is about Willie Loman, a traveling salesman who is facing the twilight of his life and confronting his personal and professional failures.

Presentation explores Richard Wagner's life
Topeka ï¿½ "Infidelity in Wagner's Life and Ring" will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, SW 10th and SW Washburn streets.
Narrated by Dean Collins, the program will show how Richard Wagner's personal heritage is seen in the behaviors of his operatic characters.
The free event, which is open to the public, is sponsored by the Topeka Opera Society and Concert Assn.
Dinosaur casts to be displayed in Hays
Hays ï¿½ "Jurassic Park: The Life and Death of Dinosaurs," an exhibit featuring a collection of fossils and fossil casts, will be on display through May 5 at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History at Fort Hays State University.
At the center of the exhibit is an exact cast of a Giganotosaurus fossil that was discovered in 1993 in Patagonia, Argentina. The exhibit also includes a full-mount fossil skeleton of a Stegoceras, a small bonehead dinosaur.
