Appreciating your neighbors' work

Here are the events scheduled as part of the Lawrence Own Your Own exhibition. All events are at the old Carnegie library building, 200 W. Ninth:

� Friday: Preview and reception, 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m., by invitation only.

� Saturday: Grand opening reception, meet the artists and presentation of awards, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., open to the public.

� Sept. 29: Exhibition open noon-5 p.m.; "LOYO and Our Visual Artists," presentation by visual artist advocate Diana Dunkley, 2 p.m.

� Sept. 31-Oct. 2: Exhibition open 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

� Oct. 3: Exhibition open 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; "The Art of Appreciation," presentation by Darcy Gerhard of the Lawrence Committee for the Advancement of the Visual Arts, 7 p.m.

� Oct. 4-5: Exhibition open 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

� Oct. 6: Exhibition open noon-3 p.m.; "Art and Mental Health," presentation by Lanell Finneran of Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, 2 p.m.; invitation-only closing celebration, 3 p.m.-5 p.m., with "Get the Picture: Looking for Art," presentation by Betsy Weaver, docent at the Helen Foresman Spencer Museum of Art, 4 p.m.
