KU theater students honored

Six Kansas University theater students received awards during the recent regional festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

In addition, the University Theatre production of "Iphigenia at Aulis" was one of three shows selected for possible invitation to nationals in late April.

Sara K. Armstrong, Cushing, Okla., graduate student, won Meritorious Achievement Awards for directing and co-sound design for the play.

Brian Clinnin, Arlington Heights, Ill., graduate student, won first place in the graduate scenic design competition for "Macbeth" and a Meritorious Achievement Award for costume design for University Theatre's production of "You Never Can Tell."

Beth Collins, Sanderstead, England, graduate student, won first place in the graduate costume design competition for "Nutcracker" and received a Meritorious Achievement Award for scenic design for "The Two Gentlemen of Verona."

Aaron Dyszelski, Milwaukee, Wis., graduate student, received a Meritorious Achievement Award for costume, scenic and makeup design for "The Two Gentlemen of Verona."

Nick Kostner, Murdock senior, received a Meritorious Achievement Award for co-sound design for "Iphigenia at Aulis."

Kelly Mengelkoch, Wichita senior, won first place in the Musical Theatre Acting Award Competition.
