Ten theater students will compete in Irene Ryan acting contest

In addition to the five Kansas University student original plays and the student production of Euripides' "Iphigenia at Aulis," 10 KU theater students will compete Jan. 21-26 in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition at the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. They are:

  • Mo Perry, Eden Prairie, Minn., senior; and Christopher Wheatley, Lawrence junior; both from the cast of "The Two Gentlemen of Verona"
  • Joe Boothe, Overland Park senior; Megan Carter, Overland Park sophomore; and Allison Gabbard, Topeka senior; all from the cast of "Iphigenia at Aulis"
  • Julia Hardin, Lawrence junior; Joe Plese, Overland Park senior; and Bobby Sloan, Great Bend junior; all from the cast of "Where to, Turelu?"
  • Matt Greer, Tulsa, Okla., junior; and Kelly Mengelkoch, Wichita senior; both from the cast of "You Never Can Tell."
