Nintendo will release a backlit Game Boy Advance later this month.
Dubbed Game Boy Advance SP, this marks the first backlit Game Boy. Nintendo finally took to heart all of the complaints about the visibility of games on previous versions of the handheld system. Since there is no backlighting for the Game Boy Advance and previous Game Boys, gamers had to hold it at a certain angle in the right lighting to see anything on the screen.
Nintendo claims that it was waiting for technology to accommodate the battery life of backlit devices. Now, boasting almost ten hours of life on two AA batteries, Nintendo will release the Game Boy Advance SP on March 24, 2003. Lawrence can expect it to hit store shelves two to three days later.
GBA SP is compatible with all Game Boy games and will hit shelves with a MSRP of $99.99.
