Sunday, March 16, 2003

Garry Hynes, Zoe Caldwell and Gregory Mosher will direct three American theater classics as part of the Kennedy Center's 2004 celebration, "Tennessee Williams Explored."

The festival will begin next year with a production of Williams' 1947 hit, "A Streetcar Named Desire."

Hynes, head of Ireland's Druid Theater and director of "The Beauty Queen of Leenane" there and on Broadway, will oversee "Desire," which runs April 27-May 16, 2004.

Caldwell, the Tony Award-winning star of such plays as "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie," "Medea" and "Master Class," will direct "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," June 1-20.

Mosher, who ran Chicago's Goodman Theater and Lincoln Center Theater in New York, will direct "The Glass Menagerie," July 6-25.

Casting for all three shows will be announced.
