New Metal Gear Solid confirmed for Gamecube

New re-make not done by Konami

Thursday, May 1, 2003

This morning Nintendo of America announced Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube to be released this fall.

Also, Konami, Metal Gear's company, will not be making it. Silicon Knights, famous for the recent critically acclaimed Eternal Darkness, is working on the project under the strict supervision of Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear's creator) and Shigeru Miyamoto (Nintendo's franchise mastermind).

The new game will be a complete graphic overhaul a la the Resident Evil remake. Miyamoto has been planning this for awhile. Since he is Hideo Kojima's mentor, Kojima was happy to work on this project with him.

The game will be fully playable at E3 in two weeks.
