Sega considering merger offer from Electronic Arts

This could be the biggest "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" story in video game history.

Reuters reported today that Sega Corp. is considering an alliance with Electronic Arts to combat poor sales performance.

"We have been badly beaten in the U.S. consumer video game market," said Sega Senior Officer Hisao Oguchi. "If we can't resolve this on our own, then it's better to join hands with someone."

This spawns many questions of what this sort of merger would look like. Would this be the end of the NFL 2Kx series, among the other sports franchises? We'll have more as it develops.
