6News video: Art a la carte

Acclaimed Scottish fiddler Bonnie Rideout drew a crowd this afternoon when she gave a free preview performance in downtown Lawrence. But that was just warm-up for this evening's concert at the Lied Center, where she'll be joined by her trio and the entire Washington City Pipe Band. Scottish Rant, as the concert's being billed, gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

Tomorrow evening, two new art exhibitions open at downtown Lawrence galleries. Tara Nicole Tonsor's solo exhibition, called "Seek," contains collages and mixed media pieces that document moments in her life in colorful freeze frame. The KU graduate will be on hand during a reception from 6 to 10 at Olive Gallery and Art Supply. The show stays up through April 28.

A few blocks west at Ad Astra Galleria, "All Roads Lead to Sculpture." At least that's the name of a group exhibition by four KU grads. The show's name was inspired by a sign that the women's sculpture professor hung outside student studios. You can meet the artists and see their diverse works from 6 to 9 Saturday evening.
