Exhibit questions art's role as decoration

What's over your sofa?

That's the question posed by a new exhibition "A Painting for Over the Sofa (That's Not Necessarily a Painting)."

The national touring show opens Saturday in the Kress Gallery at the Spencer Museum of Art and will continue through June 20.

Complete with inflatable sofas, the exhibit invites viewers to sit down and make themselves at home while soaking in works by 18 artists that challenge the notion of art as a decorative element.
