Art a la carte

Tonight at the Lawrence Arts Center, City Youth Theatre members will mix songs with scenes in a Cabaret Showcase. Selections will range from tunes featured in shows like "Grease" to dialogues plucked from plays like "The Laramie Project." The show continues tomorrow.

Kansas University's Theatre for Young People tomorrow and Sunday will stage Maurice Sendak's "Really Rosie," a musical built around one young girl's imaginary movie about her life. Lawrence personalities like Sue Hack and Cathy Hamilton will read Sendak's works for children from noon to 2 tomorrow at Borders.

And Sunday at KU's Art & Design Gallery, a reception will be held from 2 to 4 for the Graduate Student Exhibition. The show features ceramics, drawings, paintings, metalsmithing, prints, sculptures, textiles and expanded media by KU graduate students. It remains on view through Feb. 27.
