Bungie finally set the release date of Halo 2 to stop the widespread speculation. In a somewhat disappointing announcement, the words "Fall of this year" crept from the lips of Microsoft's highly-coveted developer.
So we have at least six months to wait before getting our grubby hands on the final version. This will come as a disappointment to many. But Bungie never promised anything aside from "Halo 2 will be done when it's ready."
Bungie promises to start releasing more information about the game each week in anticipation of its release. You can see the new multiplayer screenshot below. Notice the highly-detailed lighting and shadowing effects.
Halo 2 continues the story of Master Chief as he attempts to save Earth from the Covenant, 343 Guilty Spark, another Halo, and even more forces unknown.
