Four movies open this weekend, and none more notable than "Monster." Lawrence native Patty Jenkins wrote and directed this tale examining the life and crimes of notorious serial killer Aileen Wuornos.
Ex-model Charlize Theron brings a ferocious intensity to the role, and will deservedly take home the Oscar for Best Actress next month. Also opening is "The Perfect Score," which involves a group of high schoolers who conspire to steal the answers to the SAT. Although it contains elements of both a comedy and a heist flick, it's really more of a character study about how the testing system has corrupted basically good kids into doing things they ordinarily wouldn't.
Of lesser note is "The Big Bounce," a double-cross-heavy adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel starring perpetual smart aleck Owen Wilson.
And there's "You Got Served," an extended music video about the competitive world of street dancing.
