Occupation and/or major: Big Daddy Cadillac's receptionist
Style Scout: Sarah Schirmer
Hometown: Circleville, Kan.
Time in Lawrence: 7 years
Favorite clothing store? It used to be Salvation Army, 'til it went away.
Other stores you frequent? The Social Service League.
How would you describe your style? Thrift fusion. Comfy. I don't care if I'm stylish, per se-it just sometimes turns out that way.
Favorite thing for this season? The resurgence of '50s glam-when it's not girly-girled out. Pairing sequined cardigans with beat-up jeans and a studded belt. Pearls. Cocktail dresses. With combat boots. Fishnets.
Least favorite trend right now? Boys wearing tight girls jeans. I don't need to see your briefs outline.
Where do you get your haircut? My bathroom. By me.
Favorite coffee shop in Lawrence? Z's.
Favorite Lawrence bar? The Replay.
Is there anything you'd like to see more of in Lawrence? People taking styles and making them their own, instead of falling in a set framework.
Occupation and/or major: Owner, White Chocolate
Style Scout: Rod Smith
Hometown: Hays, Kan.
Time in Lawrence: 7 months
Favorite clothing store? I don't really shop for clothes. That's why my brother and I started this shop in Hays, because we found we were always leaving town to find things. Now I get all my clothes from here.
Other stores you frequent? Papa Keno's.
How would you describe your style? All this is subconscious for me. I wear a lot of earth tones, browns, basic stuff. T-shirts, thermals, sweatshirts. Sometimes a snap-down Western shirt or a sweater. It's like skaterkid-hippie. And I'm very utilitarian. I buy it, and I wear it as long as I feel comfortable in it. A shirt with holes in it becomes an undershirt. Oh, I try not to wear browns and blacks together.
Favorite thing for this season? Uggs. Just kidding.
Least favorite trend right now? (declines to answer) What I like about Lawrence is that people dress however they want. In Hays, people looked at me, because I was the white guy with dreads.
Where do you get your haircut? I've been growing my dreads for almost five years.
Favorite coffee shop in Lawrence? I don't really drink coffee.
Favorite Lawrence bar? Louise's.
Is there anything you'd like to see more of in Lawrence? Dread wax and dread shampoo. Maybe I just don't know where to look. Also, there needs to be less spreading and more stacking. I fear homogenization. I fear McDonald's, "one taste, one world."
