I've never been very quiet about my obsessive love for Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid series. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is my favorite game of all-time, but the ending left somewhere around 465,821 unanswered questions. While I absolutely loved MGS3, it failed to follow up on the extremely intriguing ending to 2001's masterpiece. When I heard that MGS4 would take place after MGS2, I knew all my hopes would be fulfilled. We're going to get to see how Raiden's life and views have changed since the ultimate mind****/screwjob he received in SoL. We're going to see Liquid Snake (in Ocelot's body) amass a giant army and try to recreate Big Boss's dream of Outer Heaven. We're going to see an old, resigned Snake face the fact that he's known nothing but war, sadness and death for his entire existence.
On top of that, we get a host of returning characters, including Meryl Silverburgh, Colonel Campbell and Naomi Hunter from MGS1. In fact, it looks like this game will feature the more intriguing characters from 1 and 2 and omit some of the less interesting (Fatman and Fortune for example). Also, I can't wait to see all the Raiden-haters start to change their tune after they see the new Gray Fox-ified badass we saw in the trailer. Like he always does at every major game show, Hideo Kojima has gone above and beyond and released a truly incredible trailer that has served its purpose to get the hardcore MGS community chatting incessantly about the plot of the next installment.
