Where was/what doing when scouted: Folding clothes

Favorite clothing store? Wild Man, obviously. I go to ATC a lot. I get shoes at Sharks.

Other stores you frequent? Wild Territory-they've got such cool stuff. I go at least once a week to the Antique Mall. I collect piggy banks.

How would you describe your style? Mixed classics; things that will never really go out of style. Just mix them up-mixing a cute 1950s beaded sweater with an over-sized '80s T-shirt and a pair of sharp jeans.

Favorite trend for this season? Scarves and jackets. Anything gold, really. I love gold.

Least favorite trend right now? Khaki pants. I hate furry boots. And '80s prom dresses. People come in to buy them for parties all the time. It's so annoying.

Where do you get your haircut? By Megs from Headmasters. Usually we do it at her house.

Favorite coffee shop in Lawrence? Milton's. They know what I like. They put extra whipped cream on the coffee lid so I can have a little taste before it all melts in my coffee.

Favorite bar in Lawrence? I like the Replay, Jackpot, Tap Room and The Pig. And Red Lyon-it's always classic. But I'm not getting out much these days.

Is there anything you'd like to see more of in Lawrence? More clothing stores that don't suck. That new thrift store downtown is all early to mid-'90s stuff and way over-priced. Mom jeans, you know? And I wish there were more people downtown, more shoppers. I was just in NYC and realized how slow our pace of life is here.

Tell us a secret. I wear shorts under my dresses.

Style = ? How you put things together. Even if it's ugly stuff, if you put it together right, it can look really good.

McClain Southwell

Name: McClain Southwell

Hometown: Omaha, Neb.

Age: 22

Time in Lawrence: 5 years

Occupation and/or major: working on Masters Accounting

Top: NWT fleece pullover, Free-left at house, 8 months

Pants: KU Sweats, $70, Union bookstore, 2 months

Shoes: Nike Free, $130, Scottsdale, Ariz., 1 year

Accessories: Polo T-shirt, $25, 9 months

Where was/what doing when scouted. Having a Gin and Tonic at Johnny's (midnight)

Favorite clothing store? Kenneth Cole

Other stores you frequent? Jock's Nitch, Sharks, ATC.

How would you describe your style? Casual and sophisticated. I'm always comfortable, always presentable.

Favorite trend for this season? I love cut-off jeans. And girls who can rock baggy jeans European-style.

Least favorite trend right now? People who dress all black just to be Anti-. They're just as conformist as everybody else.Where do you get your haircut? Rex's downtown They never mess it up.

Favorite coffee shop in Lawrence? Sorry, not a coffee drinker.

Favorite bar in Lawrence? Johnny's Tavern and The Hawk.

Is there anything you'd like to see more of in Lawrence? Individualism in the Greek community. Less following. There's always "the cool guy" who sets the pace, and the pace is lame. They all look the same; frat culture is completely pre-determined. I'm an ex-frat: Sigma Nu. I left to have surgery, came back, and all my clothes and PlayStation were destroyed.

You look like a frat guy. The clothes don't make me; I make the clothes.

Really? Really.

Tell us a secret. I had sex in the stacks at Watson. I play Ping Pong.

Ping Pong? Badass.

In 10 years, where do you hope to be? In the front office of the San Diego Chargers.

Are you a happy American? I'm happy to be here but I think foreign relations have suffered a serious blow over the past eight years. We're absolutely failing in diplomacy. It comes down to the need to secure the country and still realize that the world is much greater than America's economy. We should work for better relationships with the rest of the world.

Style = ? Confidence. Experience. It's how you feel.
