Where were you when scouted? At the Jayhawk Bookstore, signing Playboys (that she appeared in as one of the Women of the Big 12).
Favorite clothing store? Forever 21, Guess, H&M, Target
Other stores you frequent? Forever 21, Aldo, Standard Style
How would you describe your style? Trendy. I work for a really trendy make-up line — MAC Cosmetics — and that’s one thing we’re big on, staying up on everything. We can dress however we want as long as it’s all black. Make-up reflects really well off black. (You said earlier you were conservative — but you posed for Playboy?) Yeah, I prefer to dress modestly. If you were to see me out in KC, sometimes I might get a wild hair and wear a short skirt or something but usually I just throw on jeans and maybe a wife beater. I don't do revealing tops or really tiny bottoms. I’m 26, so I’m not your typical senior in college. (But you posed in Playboy? Buck-nekked doesn’t seem so "modest" ...) Playboy is the number one men’s magazine in the world and to get a chance to be in that is huge, so I took it! Just because I posed for Playboy does not mean I don't carry myself like a lady should in public. I posed for Playboy because it's been a personal fantasy of mine. It ended up turning out great and I'm happy with my picture. I take a lot of modeling pictures, but never to this level. The only way, I told myself that I would take pictures like this is if I was paid very well. All I can say is that I'm in the magazine, right!
Favorite trend for this season? Big belts with blouses and dresses. Anyone who knows me will tell you I’ve got every different color and kind of big belt. Of course my boyfriend makes fun of me — “Oh, look at that, it’s another big belt!” Once it goes out of style I’m going to be stuck with all these big belts, but I don’t pay much for them so that’s ok.
Least favorite trend right now? I guess those big baggy, balloon dresses. Or vintage dresses — they aren’t very flattering on most people. I see so many different things on the Plaza, but I don’t really care what people wear unless it’s just really hideous — like someone who’s overweight wearing a tight shirt with stripes.
Where do you get your haircut? Lately Double Take in KC — Marcie’s really good and Jessica did my hair last time. In Lawrence Nicole Ortez at Hair Experts did my hair the whole time I was with the Women of KU. Back then (last year) I had really long black hair down to the middle of my back. Originally I was a brunette and I’ll probably go back to that in a week or two.(laughs) I know I’m really bad. I just thought blonde would be fun for the summer but it takes a lot of upkeep and I get more compliments as a brunette anyway.
Favorite coffee shop in Lawrence? Starbucks. I love my non-fat vanilla latte with whip. If I need a coffee I’ll go whereever, but Starbucks is everywhere, and I live right by one.
Favorite bar in Lawrence? Quinton’s and the Hawk. The Hawk’s got so many different areas and it’s just a fun place to go with my girlfriends. Quinton’s is nice because it’s a little bit older crowd and it’s a smaller place — and the bartenders are AWESOME.
Is there anything you'd like to see more of in Lawrence? I live in Olathe so I’m not here all the time. But no, I think Lawrence is just fine the way it is.
