From what I've heard, the hip hop scene in Lawrence has slowed some in the last couple years.
Living in KC, I'm not sure if this is true. But I do know a vibe like I remember from Lawrence is alive at The Peanut every Sunday at Hip Hop and Hot Wings.
Those who remember Project Groove from a few years ago, will recall the spirit and energy of the night—up and coming local artists, touring groups, and the community all together in a weekly hangout.
The Peanut's atmostphere is friendly and full of characters—imagine a hip hop version of Cheers. However this environment is not just for those in the know. All those people interested in experiencing the atmosphere and energy—and the hot wings—are made to feel welcome. Next time you're in KC, hop off 35-N at Broadway and make a left—the smell of wing sauce will guide you. In the meantime, enjoy this aural sample...
