BREAKING NEWS

When news happens:

The universally admired Peace Lilly that occupied the apartment building on the corner of 17th and Ohio streets has gone missing.

A note was found recently in a ground-floor interior hallway window of the building, above the sunny space where the pilfered green formerly sat. The note reads:

"MISSING: The Peace Lilly that has been in this spot went Missing. I went on vacation and came back and it was gone. I have cared for this plant for many years and [it] has family ties to me. If you have seen this plant, please call [number deleted]. Reward if Found in the condition it was left in. I enjoy sharing my plants with people in the complex. If it is in your APT please put it back. It will be going soon to its winter home."

The note was typed in blue on white paper. A picture of the plant in question was also printed. Days after the note was taped to the window, someone wrote by hand:

"Sorry about your plant. Also, be sure to lock your car doors. Last Saturday night someone opened my doors, went through all my things, and stole 4 rented DVDs. So, apparently someone was going car to car looking for unlocked doors. Just a heads up. Oh, it was our 4-car Ohio Street parking lot where I was parked."

The two incidents appear to be unrelated.
