Dear Vanna White, I would like to purchase an adjective. Is there one left? Or were they all used up in describing the Jayhawks' victory? A lil' bit of the coverage, local and national, all mashed up Frankenstein-style (not a word written by us-click the links to view the source materialz)...
In the final 2 minutes of regulation, I counted 10 things that had to happen for Kansas to come from nine points behind. All it took was Darrell Arthur opening his mouth. Seriously, that's it. "We just say 'let your nuts hang,'" (Darnell) Jackson said. "Just let them hang."

The ball came up into Chalmers' chest. He took one rushed dribble to his left and elevated. Rose jumped with him, arm outstretched. Chalmers arched the shot over Rose's fingers and into the tension-drenched Texas air. Mario Chalmers was known as Super Mario when he arrived at Kansas in 2005. But after his heroics in KU's heart-stopping 75-68 overtime victory over Memphis in the national championship game, it's time for a new nickname. How about Miracle Mario? Mario and the Miracles? That has a good ring to it, too. KU Chancellor Robert Hemenway said, "2008 means Super Mario and the overtime." Senior Russell Robinson said, "I don't know if it was a miracle, but I guess it was pretty miraculous." "That's why we call him Mr. Clutch," KU's Brandon Rush said. But the big winner of Monday's game is going to be Kansas Coach Bill Self, who before this tournament wore the label of "Mr. Can't Win The Big One." So can Chalmers now run for Mayor of Lawrence? "If he can, he'll win," (Sherron) Collins said. "It was just a lucky shot," (Chalmers said). The new Mario Kart title is hitting the Wii next week.

Roy Williams showed up at the Kansas-Memphis national title game wearing a Kansas sticker on his shirt. Icebergs are melting, jobs are disappearing and Paris Hilton wants to get pregnant. The world heaves in turmoil and yet Tar Heel fans want to know: What was Roy Williams thinking? "Where does his loyalty lie?" asked one blogger from scout.com. "You don't see Target employees wearing Wal-Mart smocks do you?" 1996 Tonganoxie high graduates Micah Bray, Clinton Goos, and Christi Moore all made the trek to Texas to watch KU play in the Final Four. While ESPN on-air personalities and national sports columnists were in abundance, they also spotted former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Dennis Miller and Mario Lopez, better known as A.C. Slater from the cheesy 1990s teen sitcom "Saved by the Bell."

Thousands of people poured out of bars and restaurants and turned Massachusetts Street into a surging river of joyous humanity. Caterina Benallazar (l.com note: the The La Prima Tazza barista's name is actually spelled Benalcazar), a 33-year-old employee of a coffee shop, lives near Massachusetts Street and slept only three hours before coming to work at about 6 a.m. Tuesday. "There's no way you can anticipate something that beautiful," Benallazar said in describing the Jayhawks' victory. An hour after the game, the only visible police action occurred when a young man carrying three bottles of beer walked to up to three policemen and began to vomit. "You'd better give me those," one policeman said. The young man handed him the bottles, apologized and began walking away. His girlfriend high-fived the policemen and told them, "Thanks for being nice." Others were evidently not so nice. Streakers on Mass. Street? That shit is messed up. I guess a good victory deserves a good flopping around the city. Robinson sat in the back of a golf cart with his head in his arms and a net around his neck, thinking about the accomplishment. "You couldn't really have written it any better," Robinson said. "No way you could've written it better."
