Danyale McCurdy

Age: 28

Sign: Virgo

Hometown: Edmond, Okla.

Time in Lawrence: five years

Occupation: Clinical psychology graduate student/therapist

What were you doing when scouted? Drinking an RB & V at the Pig.

Favorite stores? I buy most of my clothes on eBay, but in Lawrence I do like the store Envy for some cheap trendies. I buy a lot of stuff at Target. I’m really into internet shopping in general.

How would you describe your style? I hate to say it, but usually I like whatever’s in. I also like to mix 1950s-60s influences with modern touches.

Where do you get your hair cut? Roxanne at Static cuts and colors it. She does an amazing job of making me look blond when I’m not.

Favorite trends? I like belts because they create shape. I also like color blocking and patterns. I’m really glad that platforms and wedges are back in style, because they’re easier to walk in, and I’m a shortie.

Least favorite? Dropped crotch Phillip Lim shorts and pants that only six-feet-tall, emaciated people can pull off. Everyone else looks like they’ve crapped their pants.

Tattoos/piercings? I used to have seven ear piercings, and I used to have my belly button pierced, but it got in the way of all of my high-waisted skirts...And I’m too old for it.

Favorite coffee shop? My kitchen. I have seven bags of coffee in my freezer. It’s cheap and I can’t roll out of my house that early to get coffee anywhere.

Favorite bar? I really do like The Pig. They have sugar-free Red Bull and you never get hit on in there by creepy guys. I usually go out to wherever has a good show going on.

What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? Good freakin Mexican food and a nice department store where you can find designer pieces.

What would you like to see less of? People who think they’re “artists” or “musicians.”

Who are your fashion influences? Mary-Kate Olsen...I love that little muppet. I get ideas from Harper’s Bazaar’s “Fabulous at Every Age” column. Edie Sedgwick, and I gotta say it—Carrie Bradshaw, for mixing vintage with designer.

What’s your fashion philosophy? I never throw anything away. You never know when you’ll want to bring something back into the mix. Also, know your body and accentuate the good features and hide the bad. An example of this can be showing off a small waist and hiding monstrous thighs.

Favorite summer activity in Lawrence? Eating sushi and drinking wine outside.

Tell us a secret: I eat every meal at my house in my bed while watching television.
