Save & Splurge

How do you save money?
“I shop at Checkers. Checkers is the cheapest grocery store around. It also has the most unattractive customers in town. I feel at home there. I think there’s a gradation between Checkers and The Merc, as far as attractiveness of customers. Merc customers are very attractive. Checkers also has a lot of immigrants—give us your homely, your welfare, and your huddled masses yearning to breath free. Checkers is America, and that’s why I love it. But you can’t beat their prices—get that generic brand that they carry, because it’s cheap as hell and generally the same quality. There are some things you don’t want to compromise on, however, one of them being toilet paper.”
What do you splurge on?
“Toilet paper. The low-cost, non-name brand toilet paper is not as good as Charmin. Weak toilet paper is my pet peeve. Don’t compromise on toilet paper. Charmin Basic is very sturdy—it can be wet and not disintegrate into dingleberries. I also splurge on good beer—Free State and Boulevard. You need to splurge on beer and toilet paper.”
