Jennifer Dreiling
Age: 33
Sign: Scorpio
Hometown: Manhattan
Time in Lawrence: off and on for 13 years
Occupation: photography producer for Hallmark Cards
What were you doing when scouted? Hanging out at the Pig after having an outdoor breakfast picnic with friends.
Favorite stores? Jensen Liquor and The Raven.
How would you describe your style? French chic, according to my friend Kylie.
Where do you get your hair cut? Brad at the Green Room.
Favorite trends? I'm into mumus and comfortable, cool clothing. I like comfortable footwear, as prescribed by my acupuncturist, Dr. Chang.
Least favorite? Ultra- skinny boys—a little more meat on the bone would be nice. Impracticality. Also, I lived through the 1980s and I didn't like them. I resent the overabundance of ’80s fashion.
Tattoos/piercings? I have a tattoo on my shoulder of a snowflake, which I had done by Huggy-Bear from the movie “Tattoo.”
Favorite coffee shop? I guess the Pig is my favorite. I like their coffee, but I usually get it to go because I don't really like to hang out at coffee shops.
Favorite bar? The Pig, The Replay, The Tap Room. Although I really wish there was a bar in town with a fireplace.
What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? Mimes and puppeteers. More fireplaces. A grocery store in North Lawrence. Better street food, especially the perfect breakfast sandwich.
What would you like to see less of? Frivolity. People feeling the need to leave Lawrence—they need to love and embrace it more.
Who are your fashion influences? I like to pick themes based on what the event calls for. I'd say that food really influences my decisions because I love to cook and have dinner parties which usually have a theme to them.
What is the theme for summer 2008? Earlier this year, I declared 2008 to be the year of the turban. I would say that the theme for this summer is handheld, transportable foods.
Tell us a secret: I really would like to be a diplomat, or a spy.
